-Merry Christmas-

Evan has a fourth tooth coming in on the top and is having a bit of a hard time with it. He got a fever yesterday so David had to stay in the room with him while the whole secret santa thing happened. Evan still hasn’t opened his presents but I can’t wait for him to see his buzz lightyear (thank you Shae and Gavin!)
Evan’s still a little run down today but had to take some Christmas photos anyways of my first Christmas with him. He was a little fussy and by the time David and I got to smooching him he started crying, as you can see.

-Happenings-

Evan has 3 teeth now, all on the top. And he started crawling yesterday. It’s summer here so I can finally dress him in onesies and have his chubby thighs sticking out.
David came back this week just in time for Christmas. He thinks I spoiled Evan so he’s trying to toughen him up again and turn him into a little “sparten.” He was teething and was sick for a week so got really whiny during that time. He’s doing allot better now. While David was gone I let Evan sleep in the bed with me and now he refuses to sleep in his crib. David was up for a bit last night trying to put him back to sleep in his crib but when it was my turn to take over I just put him in our bed and went to sleep. It’s going to be a weening process for sure to get him to sleep in his crib but sleep is very precious for me so I’m not sure how it’s going to work.

8 months

Evan has a tooth! It just cut through so you can’t really see it but it’s there. It’s on the top of his mouth, a little to the side. I’ll take a picture of it once it starts to show.
He waved at me the other day. I got him to do it all afternoon but he hasn’t done it since. And he says “da.” Probably doens’t know what it means but he’s starting to say those one syllable sounds.
And he’s right about to crawl. He gets on all fours and then scoots back. Yesterday I was putting baby Einstein on for him so I put him on the bed and turned around for a second and he dove off and fell on the floor. Poor guy was all traumatised but he slept really well! Anyways, I’ve learned my lesson and can’t leave him on the bed anymore.
He’s starting to get attatched to me. Before he would see me and get excited but he would never cry for me. Now he’s starting to. He’s terribly cuddly. He gives me hugs and cuddles with me at night. He likes to play with my hand as he falls to sleep.

7 Months

Evan turned 7 months on the 8th. He’s growing up so fast I can barely keep up. He has all these new cute things that he does and he interacts with me allot more, tries to crawl and gets excited about seeing me and watching videos. I do allot more with him these days, playing and reading books and whatnot. I set aside a bit of time for “parent time” every evening.
I’m changing his diet now because he needs allot more then what he’s currently eating which is mainly yoghurt and vegetables. I’m starting to blend up meat and rice for him to eat and he seems allot happier. It’s at this stage that I feel more like a mother and I can enjoy being with him allot more than babysitting him in his newborn stage.

Happy Birthday to my two beautiful sisters Maria and Melanie! Wish you guys were here, you’re both so fun and bubbly, I miss you tons! Sorry for stealing the photos off your blog, Melanie, I didn’t want to, only I didn’t have any of my own. I love the last one, it’s so classic and brings back memories of Maria.
Anyways, I love both of you girls tons and tons and I’m praying that the Lord supplies all of your hearts desires this year!

Teething

Evan was really naughty last night and a grouch today but I realised he is teething. His bottom gums are swollen, it looks like he has two teeth coming in. It’s about time, he’ll be 7 months in less then a week and he’s still sporting his toothless grin. I’m guessing thats why he had a fever this last week. I can’t wait to take photos of him with teeth!

Happenings

Sorry I haven’t updated in a while. This last week there’s been a flu going around and Evan and I both caught it. Evan had a very high fever for two days, it went down yesterday, thank the Lord and today he’s recovering. He’s so docile when he’s sick, just sits on my lap quietly. Today I was with him all day and he pretty much just slept, watched baby Einstien (I’m expanding his horizons from just Cherub Wings) and read books with me. He lost his appetite; he’ll drink the occasional bottle but its so weird to wave food in front of his face and have him stare blankly at it. But he looks allot better today he laughs and talks with me, so thats good.
In any case, it doesn’t look like he’s lost any weight and as long as he keeps his adorable cheeks, I’m happy. I’ll post some new pics, as soon as I get around to taking some.
In other news, David is leaving to Monterrey/States November 12th. He’ll be gone 5 weeks, comes back December 20th. So it’s sad times ahead for me. I wanted so much to go with Evan as well to visit but it looks like it’s not going to work out this year. But I heard rumors about a family reunion next year in April. So I’ll see; hopefully I can go then if it does pan out.

School Time!

Evan is in a baby group with 11 month old Leilani. She’s so adorable and tiny; they make the cutest little group together. She’s 5 and a half months older then him but they wear the same diaper size. They have their own little nursery that I bring him to every morning where he does his flashcards, inspirations, finger rhymes and watches his beloved Cherub Wings.

Evan really wants to crawl. He just reaches for anything in front of him and then goes flat on his tummy and tries to pull himself up. He’s getting pretty good at it though, I think he’ll be an early crawler.
One of his teachers told me a funny story about him the other day. She was feeding Leilani yogurt and had to leave the room for something so left the yogurt cup on the other side of the bed way out of Evan’s reach. About a few minutes later she heard a frustrated cry so ran back into the room to see Evan on his tummy with his face and one hand covered in yogurt and the other hand in the yogurt cup. I guess he was trying to get the cup to his mouth but couldn’t and thats why he was frustrated.
It’s really funny to see him try and scoot on his tummy. I can’t wait until he crawls; although something tells me I’m going to regret saying that.

My long overdue post

OK, so I’m back from the XD it was really good, just what I needed.
I came back to a bigger, more grown-up, fatter Evan. He makes all these new noises and sits up and plays with his toys. It’s too cute! We just set-up his crib/playpen and he sits in there for hours “talking” to his toys and trying to eat them. And he’s such a Cherub Wings addict. No matter how hard he’s crying as soon as he hears “Hi! I’m Cherub! And your ganna love this show!” he stops, his whole face lights up and he frantically searches the room for the computer.
I put him in a high chair now and feed him. I can’t eat in front of him because he cries for my food. In fact, he cries for anything that he thinks might be food. It used to be really funny, when he was about 3 months old, now it’s just annoying.
I feed him mushed up banana and blended spinach. He sits in his high chair and drools and sticks his head out as far as it will go and gets all desperate for the food. And I shovel it into his mouth as fast as I can but woe unto me if he finishes his bite of food before I’m ready with the next one.
He’s really changing allot. He’s in a totally new phase now. He knows I’m mommy to him and gets all excited when he sees me.

-Rest Day-

Sorry I haven’t updated, Amanda. There was no excuse. It was just pure laziness.
So the home voted that I can go to XD. I leave August 28th and until then I am trying to ween Evan. I’m giving him his first bottle when he wakes up.
He sat up for the first time 2 days ago. I was so proud of him. The first time he sat for about 10 seconds before he fell over but now he does it for a couple of minutes. He’s 4 and a half months old now, here are a few pics.

Our internet got cut off again. Seems a regular occurrence here; at least when it rains. It just came on again last night so now I’m frantically finishing up the XD course before the site closes.
Going to the PEP tomorrow for 4 days. It feels good to be a parent.

It was such a hot day that David decided to get Evan naked and have a photo shoot. Evan’s just like his father, happiest when he’s naked.

We’ve been without internet for the last couple of days due to excessive raining. It came back on today. I feel like a blind man who has just regained his sight. We had to go to another home to download the XD files so we could continue studying the XD.
Their having the XD core for Chile in Brazil and I got a letter that there are no babies or kids allowed. David wanted to stay home with Evan while I went but I got him used to the idea of leaving Evan with someone else so we can both go. I’m still trying to decide if I can realistically leave him for that long. It might mean that I have to ween him at 6 months. But I miss him when he sleeps for too long so I’ll go crazy being away from him for 3 weeks.

We had an evening activity as a home for Fathers day. Was fun, we sat around the table on the floor eating snacks and then served beer so the fathers would show up. There was a promise of back massages from each of the girls for the dads but in the end we got lazy and full and ended up asking each other questions out of a talk time book.
